5. In his "Bad, Bad, Whiskey" reached the top of the R&B record chart. It was the first of a series of drinking songs he recorded (none written by Milburn, but several composed by Rudy Toombs). However, there is no evidence that he had an alcohol problem.

6. "Chicken Shack Boogie" is a jump-boogie song by the West Coast blues artist Amos Milburn. It was the first of four number-one hits on the R&B chart by Milburn. It was the B-side of a RPM single, [2] the A-side of which, "It Took a Long, Long Time", reached number nine on the same chart.

8. Amos Milburn was the Chicken Shack Boogie Man Back in the early s, EMI issued a series of blues reissues that made some important and vintage blues available for blues listeners. In the October Jazz & Blues Report (issue ) I reviewed a pair of reissues by Amos MIlburn .

Musicien autodidacte, il fait l'apprentissage du piano à l'église et chante dans des maisons closes avant de servir dans la Royal.
